The foods the Plains Indians hunted and gathered were rich in omega-3-fatty acids. Today, our diet contains very little omega-3-fatty acids and is loaded with omega-6-fatty acids. As we forage for food at the grocery store, the food that we bring home contains up to twenty times more omega-6 than omega-3. A healthy ratio should be around two to one.
